The Nine Thousand Mile Pizza

The Nine Thousand Mile Pizza
Assembly

The Nine-Thousand-Mile-Pizza came to Newton Prep this morning, to both our Harvest Assemblies.... Olly M and Noah M made pizzas against the clock, watched by the Upper School, while downstairs in the Lower School, it was Cecily R's and Poppy W's turn. All the children enjoyed working out how far all the ingredients had travelled. With pizza dough from the USA, pineapples from Central America and olives from Spain, the distances covered added up to over 9,000 miles: a sobering thought.

Mr Kirwan-Taylor's parting thought was, "Look after the land and the land will look after you..."

Meanwhile, back in the Lower School Hall, there was truly cause for thanks to be given for the bounty of the Harvest Boxes, piled high along the side of the hall before it's packed up and delivered to the Wandsworth FoodBank - another fantastic effort by pupils, parents and staff. Thank you to everyone who contributed - and to the volunteers who packed it all up.
