Newsflash! Newton Prep scores high in Country Life guide to top ten prep schools in London
Parents

There may well be fisticuffs in the finest homes of the land, if Country Life is to be believed. The venerable magazine's School Life Autumn Schools Supplement 2014 pegs Newton Prep as one of "the London prep schools everyone is fighting over" in a glowing - if slightly inaccurate - write-up of the school.

"A large, diverse London prep, between Battersea and Nine Elms, ‘Newton is the acceptable face of private education—meritocratic, broad ranging and grounded,’ claims the school. There are four classes of 20 from reception, and streaming in such subjects as maths starts as early as Year 1, with specialist teaching from Year 4. French is taught from nursery and Latin from Year 5. Mandarin is offered after school.
Mother of five Susannah Williams has seen Newton develop: ‘It retains its quirky nature, combining its original ethos and knowledge of families with great facilities in which children are allowed to be themselves. All the teachers have really got the measure of my children, the management is open to fresh ideas and the school is large enough to accommodate variety.’

It's great to see press coverage as positive as this, even if maths isn't streamed in Year 1, but from Year 3, and even if we don't quite have the hubris to claim that we are the acceptable face of private education...

Also, lovely to have such a vote of confidence from a parent, and a parent who has sent all of her five children to Newton!
