Crispin win the House Poetry Competition 2015

Crispin win the House Poetry Competition 2015
Arts, Drama & Music Drama

The first week in March played host to Newton Prep’s second annual House Poetry Competition.  Over February Half Term, poems were researched, lines were learnt and memories put to the test as all children in Years 3 – 8 practised poems to recite at the House Heats.   Children threw themselves into the event with energy, enthusiasm and confidence, which meant that Upper School teachers had some difficult decisions to make when selecting the finalists to represent their House!

We were privileged to be joined by Patsy Preece (Chair of Education Committee) and David Walker (Member of School Council and Housemaster at Wellington College) who judged the competition and provided the Finalists with informative and detailed feedback on their recitals.

Congratulations to the following children who, after much deliberation, were chosen as winners in their year group:

Congratulations to Crispin House who scored the most points overall and are, therefore, the winning House for this year’s House Poetry Competition!  Many thanks go to our guest judges, Ms Preece and Mr Walker, for their time in judging this event and providing such informative feedback.  Thank you to parents, teachers and children who all came along to support, too.  Most importantly, thank you to all the children who took part and made this event so successful, enjoyable and memorable!  We look forward to the 2016 House Poetry Competition!
