Upper School Sports Day smashes records

Upper School Sports Day smashes records
Sport Event

Years 5-8 enjoyed a record-breaking Upper School Sports Day yesterday - for both sunshine and athletic prowess!

Previously-set school records were smashed in high jump, long jump and on the track, with Gerald T showing once more that he is, in fact, jet-propelled. Olly M set a new record for being cheered home by the most supporters, while his younger brother Sam looked undaunted on the track,,,, despite being in plaster and on crutches for a broken ankle. The girls were no slouches, flying through the air both athletically and just for the sheer heck of it... spectators enjoyed some inpromptu Lion King rehearsals on the track.

It was a brilliant, sun-soaked day, with a good time had by all. The last track race ended up being a mishmash of teams racing against each other: parents, alumni led by Tash Bourke, the sports department, the non-sports staff members and another parents team... but to avail: they were all trounced by the Year 8 boys.

House rivalries came to the fore during the year relays, with banks of red, yellow, blue and green supporters cheering madly in the stands.... but it was Spartan who battled to the top once again: unbeaten for years, by the look of the engravings on the cup! Unjaded by their latest victory, the whole of Spartan took to the track one last time for a victory lap: a glorious end to a glorious day.

All photos of the day have now been uploaded to our photo website: there are HUNDREDS, organised into three albums, so do scroll through to spot your loved one, or even yourself.
