'Building Our World' Science Week Visit to Foster + Partners

'Building Our World' Science Week Visit to Foster + Partners
Trips & Visits Parents

Upper School children and their parents/carers have been offered the chance of a sneaky peek around the Battersea offices of one of the UK's most exciting architectural practices.

Due to the unprecedented response to our offer of an after-school trip to architecture giants Foster + Partners, we have persuaded the teams there to expand their tours to try to accommodate everyone. What this means is that there are now two waves going on the tour, so you need to choose your preferred timeslot.

Please scroll down to choose

Slots in each will be allocated strictly on a first-come, first-served basis – and will be confirmed by me once we know the balance of each.

On Thursday 16th March, local architects and global superstars Foster + Partners have very kindly agreed to throw open the doors to their Main Studio to allow Newton Prep parents AND children to have a private, behind-the-scenes tour during Science Week, as befitting the Building Our World theme of the week.

Leading architects from Lord Foster’s team will take groups of adults and children around the intricate models and virtual reality renditions of some of their most famous buildings* and demonstrate the fascinating robotic devices that are now part of their portfolio.

For the first wave, we plan to meet at Newton Prep at 5.30pm, after the Thursday Upper School Science Open House and walk across Battersea Park to get to the Foster + Partners offices in time for our start at 6.30pm. For the second wave, please meet us at Foster + Partners directly, at 6.50pm.

  • We are strictly limited on numbers so it’s first-come, first-served - scroll down to sign up
  • This trip will be escorted by Mrs Frieze and Mr Wilson but parents or carers must be responsible for their own children (and for their own children’s behaviour) on both the walk there and when we are inside.
  • On this occasion, unaccompanied children will not be allowed to come on the trip
  • Everyone will make their own way home from the tours. We will not be returning to the school that night.
  • This is not an appropriate trip for smaller siblings, what with the delicacy and fragility of the models on display!
