We are calling upon all Newton Prep parents to buy themselves a little place in Newton Prep history: donate to the Silver Symphony Appeal, which is now in its last two weeks, and your name will be painted on the wall up to the Music Wing.
Mr Peckham has written an 8-minute choral and orchestral masterpiece, "The Apple Falls', to celebrate Newton Prep, showcase Newton Prep music and mark its 25th anniversary as part of the Newton@25 programme. We have had this professionally orchestrated.
From this, the extracted legacy will be a school song, to be performed at everything from assemblies, to fixtures to any school competitions.
'The Apple Falls' will be performed for the first time at our End of Year Celebration at Cadogan Hall on the 3rd July.
The London Mozart Players, with whom we worked so triumphantly for the Newton@25 Music Festival in November, have offered us a similar deal for 'The Apple Falls' - they will shadow our players, not just to provide them with an unforgettable performance opportunity but also to give the premiere that full orchestral va-va-voom for its launch.
In order to stage this fully, the LMP have offered their full orchestra for nearly A TENTH of their usual rate.... but this is still beyond our budget.
So we are asking for your help in helping to stage an unforgettable event and to creating an everlasting little piece of history - in return for which you will have your name added permanently as a Silver Symphony sponsor above the scored song painted onto the wall on the ramp up to the Music Wing, due to be added this summer.
So far, we have raised £4,000 due to the generosity of existing Newton Prep donors. Now we need your help in raising another few thousand pounds.
If every Newton family were to give just £20 each, we would raise enough for the full orchestra!
