Newton Prep's Year 7 pupils enjoyed a fantastic week of social, cultural, and linguistic immersion in the Somme region of Northern France. The group stayed in a beautiful 18th-century French chateau, set in 40 acres of parkland, complete with suits of armour, tapestries, and 18th-century paintings. The busy programme of visits and activities included mayonnaise making, a chocolate factory, a local market (to practise their language skills), a working goat farm (to see how goats cheese is made), archery, obstacle course, Amiens cathedral (the students were particularly fascinated by the pilgrimage maze on the cathedral floor), and much more. This trip was an incredible opportunity for students to experience French culture, improve their French communication and listening skills, develop new skills as a group, and broaden their horizons. Thank you to the teachers for all of their hard work and planning, and to Le Château du Broutel for making it such a memorable experience.
