A Day in the Life

In the Lower School, pupils thrive in a stimulating environment that balances academic challenge with creativity, play and personal growth. With specialist teaching, exciting co-curricular opportunities and a strong pastoral foundation, every child is supported to flourish inside and outside the classroom.

At Newton Prep, the Lower School (Years 3–5) offers a rich and varied school day designed to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and nurture individual talents. Pupils arrive eager to learn in bright, spacious classrooms where core subjects are taught by class teachers, while specialist staff lead lessons in Art, Music, PE, Computing, and Languages. The school day balances academic challenge with creativity, collaboration, and fun.

Break & Lunchtime

Break and lunchtime offer opportunities to play, explore the outdoor space, and enjoy a healthy, freshly prepared meal. At lunchtime, pupils enjoy a freshly prepared hot or cold meal, with a wide choice of seasonal fruit, vegetables, and salads, all cooked from scratch on site. Morning and afternoon snacks are also made in-house, striking a healthy balance between nutrition and enjoyment.

Beyond the Classroom

A wide co-curricular programme encourages pupils to try new activities; from chess to coding, and ballet to fencing. Our Lower School pupils are busy, happy, and well-supported by dedicated teachers who understand how to spark a lifelong love of learning. It’s a place where children flourish, academically, socially, and emotionally.
