Trips & Visits

Each subject studied at Newton Prep is enhanced through the variety of trips and visits we provide for the children. Each Year Group visits a number of places of interest throughout the academic year, the cost of most day trips being included in school fees. We take full advantage of our central London location to visit new shows in museums, galleries and theatres. All trips are planned with the children’s enjoyment, engagement and safety in mind.

We are also lucky enough to attract a glittering array of speakers, visiting authors, persons of interest and specialist companies and workshop providers. All our visitors support the children’s learning, ranging from the Young Shakespeare Company to visiting artists to Transport for London’s Cycling Safely initiatives.

Some recent trip and visit highlights have included Year 5 enjoying a talk by Lotte Moore, a WW2 evacuee, the Lower School having a wonderful visit from the Big Pants Theatre company, and Year 3 experiencing life at Hampton Court Palace! The annual duck hatching in the Nursery was a huge success again too.

Residential School Trips

During the academic year, Newton pupils from Year 4 upwards go on a residential trip away from school, allowing them an opportunity to develop in all areas of school life, not just inside the classroom. From PGL in Year 6 to overseas Foreign Language trips in Year 7 to the fun of our biannual ski trip. During Year 8, pupils visit the Lake District for a Geography/Science fieldwork course. Year 8s also have an outdoor pursuits trip as part of their post Common-Entrance programme in the second half of the Summer Term. The cost of these trips is in addition to fees, but parents may pay in instalments.
